Sometimes it can be difficult to ensure the correct work-life balance, so in my bid to ensure that I start to give a little back to the community my lovely ‘Pets As Therapy’ dog Jess, a black cocker spaniel, and I have made two visits during April. The first, as you can see from the photo, was to a specialist dementia care home and the second to a children’s inclusion sports group.
Both very different but both equally rewarding and as expected Jess was a massive hit with both groups. Initially, many of the children were frightened of dogs but by the end of the session, many where hand feeding and stroking her! The particular lady in this photograph was thrilled that she could cuddle her and stroke her for such a long time. This then resulted in the lady going back to her room to get soft toys for Jess to see and play with.
These visits were so rewarding and a worthwhile hour spent out of my day. I can’t wait to go back and revisit. As well as being highly rewarding for my guests it was really great for my own health and well being, so win, win!
If you would like a visit from Jess then please do get in touch as we may be able to arrange something.
